Applied Technology Manufacturing Corporation was founded in 1927 as Moore & Steele Corporation, which designed and manufactured railroad track appliances such as rail anchors, rail oilers and rail lubricators. In 1995 the company name was changed to reflect a broadening of the business into component manufacturing for other companies.
